SBU carries out searches at offices “Yandex.Ukraine” in Kiev and Odessa

“In our offices in Kiev and Odessa are now the representatives of the security Service of Ukraine. Information on the causes of the current activities of the SBU are not yet available. Our offices already left for the lawyers. In the framework of legal procedures, we are ready to provide authorities with the necessary information”, – reported in a press-service “Yandex”.
Gitlyanskaya as reported by “Interfax” and Marketing Challenge, the search is carried out on the basis of article 111 of the Criminal code of Ukraine (“high treason”) which applies to the security of the country. Guilty on this article, is threatened by imprisonment for a period of 12-15 years with confiscation of property.

We will remind, on may 17 President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the decree about introduction of sanctions against a number of Russian Internet services, social networks, developers of antivirus programs, as well as the media.
In particular, under the lock on the territory of Ukraine got the social network “Vkontakte” and “Classmates” and the service “Yandex” and Mail.ru. Access to these resources will be limited by providers for a period of three years. In addition, under the sanctions hit Ukraine CJSC “RosBusinessConsulting”. Sanctions are imposed against a number of Russian media – MIA “Russia today” media holding “national Media Group”, VGTRK, TV channels REN TV, “Star”, “TV-Center”, TNT and others.
In Kiev said that Russian social network was used allegedly for “illegal collection of information, propaganda, recruitment agents, as well as the spread of pirated content.”
The document came into force from the day of its publication – may 15. The decree provides for the imposition of sanctions in respect of 1228 individuals, and 468 of Russian and Ukrainian companies.
It was noted that the three year old sanctions imposed on OOO “Yandex” and the Kiev branch of the company. Internet service providers were prohibited from providing access to all resources in this service.
As explained by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko about the release of locks from a Russian company and services will be only once “will stop the aggression” by Russia, which Kiev regularly accuses Moscow.
The decree has drawn criticism from international Human rights organization Human Rights Watch, which urged the head of Ukraine to cancel a decree. As reported, the Russian companies are already using various tools to bypass restrictions. So, Yandex has added to its browser for Android the ability to bypass locks to “Vkontakte”, “Classmates” and other websites banned. To access the service “Yandex.Metric” Ukrainian customers, the company proposed to change the code to use Amazon CloudFront.
In “Yandex” immediately after the publication of the decree Poroshenko said that the Ukrainian sanctions will have no impact on the company’s business and will hurt more Ukrainian users. The statement said that the company works in Ukraine since 2005 and has 11 million Ukrainian users. And while sanctions “nullify all long-term efforts” in the local market, there is no negative impact on the company they will not have, noted, “Yandex”.
However, on 18 may, “Yandex” has informed its partners in Ukraine that the company’s accounts blocked. In “Yandex.Ukraine” has informed that the company cannot transfer funds to the accounts of partners, the office associated blocking access to accounts with the decree Poroshenko to strengthen sanctions against Russian legal entities and individuals. in the “Yandex” noted that “to solve the problem quickly does not work” although the company continues to seek “legal solutions for sending money and continue cooperation,” to pay the bills.
