US calls on Russia to stop supporting the regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria amid shelling in Eastern ghouta, which has killed about 250 civilians. A statement was made by press Secretary of the U.S. Department of State Heather Nauert, reports UKRINFORM.

“Russia must stop supporting the Assad regime and its allies. They are responsible for the attacks and the worsening of the humanitarian situation in Eastern ghouta,” said Neuert.

She stressed that the forces of the Assad regime and its allies strikes on civilian infrastructure, including hospitals. More thousands of people need medical assistance and emergency evacuation.

The United States believes that it is urgently needed cease-fire, said the spokesman.
