The UN Security Council will hold an extraordinary meeting on the issue of missile developments United States in violation of the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF Treaty). TASS said acting permanent representative of Russia to the organization’s Dmitry Polyanskiy.
“Together with China, requested today a meeting of the security Council in connection with the statements of the USA about the plans for the development and deployment of medium-range missiles of action”, — TASS quoted the diplomat.
According to him, the meeting will be held on August 22 in an open format with the report of the representative of the Secretary General.
Earlier, the acting Minister of the army Ryan McCarthy said that Washington is studying the possibility of hypersonic missiles with a range that previously was banned by the INF Treaty.
August 18, the US tested a prohibited cruise missile agreement. The Pentagon said that its development began in February.
The maneuvers took place about two weeks after the contract was formally terminated at the initiative of the American side.
