Rada adopted the law on combating domestic violence
Uncategorized December 7, 2017The Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on combating domestic violence No. 5294. Voted 237 deputies, the correspondent of LIGA.net.
The law provides for assistance and protection of victims, ensure access to support services, medical, social, psychological assistance. If necessary, victims are provided with temporary shelter. Also provides for the establishment of a free call center for anonymous information about the facts of domestic violence.
Will be created Unified state register of cases of domestic violence. The Registry may include information about the victims and the rapists. This information will be used to provide timely assistance to the victims and coordination of services responding to violence.
In preparing the document for the second reading, the deputies failed to return to the text of the law the terms with mention of the word “gender”, for example “gender-based violence”.
Earlier it was reportedthat in Ukraine every year are exposed to violence more than 150 thousand women.
“From domestic violence affects women and children. 10 thousand remain on the street, taking them to shelters. 120-150 children each year are suicides,” – said the people’s Deputy and representative of the President of Ukraine in Parliament Iryna Lutsenko.
