KIEV. May 25. UNN. Russian President Vladimir Putin said he would not run in the next presidential elections of the Russian Federation. He stated at the St. Petersburg international economic forum, reports UNN with reference to the Meduza.

“I have always strictly adhered to the Constitution of the Russian Federation. The Constitution clearly spelled out — no more than two consecutive terms. Now I have a second consecutive term. As you may remember, I was twice before the President, and then left the office of President, because the Constitution did not allow elected for the third time. That’s all. I intend to adhere to this rule in the future,” – said Putin.

Earlier, the Chechen Parliament submitted to the state Duma a bill on the possibility to hold the office of President of the Russian Federation for three consecutive terms. Currently the Constitution does not permit the election for the highest office of the same candidate more than two times in a row.
