Facebook released a statement of their founder and leader Mark Zuckerberg to the company’s customers. In it he talks about the future plans of the company, including: allow users to set the retention period of the messages that make the services more WhatsApp Messenger and private, to introduce a new system of content storage, to develop a new confidential communication platform.

“The last 15 years, Facebook and Instagram have helped people to communicate with friends and communities in the digital equivalent of the town square. But people increasingly want to communicate privately and looking for the digital equivalent of the living room. When I think about the future of the Internet, it seems to me that communication platform focused on privacy will become more important than today’s open”, — shared observations Zuckerberg.

He also assured that the popularity of instant messengers will be sure to grow, so right now there is a need and an opportunity to create a platform to communicate with high level of data protection.

“I understand that many do not believe that Facebook can or wants to create a platform that focuses on privacy. We have a solid reputation in the provision of services for the protection of privacy and we used to be focused on instruments for a more open exchange. But we plan to focus on the messaging and make it as safe as possible. And then create other ways to interact. Including calls, chats, groups, history, company, payments, Commerce, and ultimately a platform for many other types of private services”, — said the founder of Facebook.

According to Zuckerberg, the basic principles of the new platform should become private interaction, encryption, limited time message storage, security, and transparent transition from one application to another.

However, he assured that in order to protect data from unauthorized access, the company will not store data in countries where human rights are violated, “even if we block for it.”

We will remind, earlier it was reported that the European Union agreed on the reform of copyright in the Internet. According to it, for example, the media will be a reward if their materials are used by aggregators or social networks.
