On Putin street in Bethlehem has opened the Russian cultural center

Russian President Vladimir Putin in the teleconference from Sochi residence Bocharov Stream, took part in the opening ceremony in Bethlehem, the multifunctional cultural-sporting complex (IFC), constructed with assistance from Russia. This began on Thursday an official meeting of the President with the President of the Palestinian authority Mahmoud Abbas.

According to the President, the opening of the complex has become a milestone in the development of relations between Russia and the Palestinian authority and “evidence of genuine strong friendship between our peoples and countries.” Putin also thanked the country’s leadership for their assistance in the implementation of these plans.
Abbas, in turn, gave high assessment to the Russian government for the support of the people of autonomy and occupy the position. “I would like to Express our appreciation for the complex is built, it is our great joy, we thank you for this gift to the city of Bethlehem and all the Palestinian people,” said Abbas.
“As a token of my personal appreciation and gratitude of the Palestinian people, we decided to create a governing body for this center, which will be called “the Association for the development of business and cultural cooperation in Palestine the name of Vladimir Putin”, – he added.
Putin has promised Abbas support for the restoration of dialogue between Palestinians and Israelis
During the bilateral talks, Putin promised Abbas that Moscow will continue to support the resumption of direct dialogue between the Palestinian authority and Israel. “Russia, including as a member of the middle East Quartet of UN, U.S. and European Union will continue to fully support the resumption of direct dialogue between Palestinians and Israelis,” he said.
Putin also said that the talks with Abbas, special attention was paid to the situation in the middle East. “Let me stress, the peaceful coexistence of two States – Palestine and Israel – is a prerequisite for genuine security and stability in the region. The Palestinian-Israeli conflict a political, negotiated solution based on international law”, – said the head of state.
Abbas, for his part stressed that it was impossible to establish an independent state with the borders of 1967 without the mediation efforts of Russia in the process of peaceful Arab-Israeli settlement.
“The position of Russia is characterized by a hardness – this position is aimed at establishing an independent Palestinian state with the borders of 1967 with capital in East Jerusalem. This position we always hear from you, it is hard and you always have to repeat it. It is impossible to solve the Palestinian problem without the real participation of Russia in the peace process. This is what we always say in all international formats,” he said.
Abbas also informed the Russian President about the current situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. “I briefed the President on developments in Palestine in light of the continuing Israeli aggression against our people and our land, as well as the policy of settlement construction and detention of thousands of Palestinians in Israeli prisons,” he said.
The Palestinian leader stressed that these problems undermine the chances for peace in the region and the idea of resolving the conflict between the two States. Abbas added that he considers necessary to meet the demands of Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike, and said that taking all the necessary steps to release of people.
Putin announced about the preferences of Eurasian economic community for the Palestinian authority
The Russian President also announced the decision of the UNECE to allow the PA to the preferential terms of trade with the EurAsEC. “We expect that the positive impact on bilateral trade relations will have adopted the Eurasian economic Commission the decision on the inclusion of Palestine in the number of users of the unified system of tariff preferences. Now, a number of Palestinian goods are exempt from customs duties when imported into the territory of the EurAsEC,” – said Putin.
The head of state reminded that currently operates the Russian-Palestinian intergovernmental Commission, which should solve the issues of enhancing bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
In a speech to reporters the Palestinian leader also said that he welcomes the desire of the President of the United States Donald trump to help
the process of settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
“A week ago, I took up the offer of US President, trump to meet him at the White house, expressed our full readiness to meet him to make all possible efforts to conclude a historic peace deal that will end
confrontation between us and the Israelis,” said Abbas.
“We welcome the desire of the President of trump to help find a solution to the problem of the struggle between us and the Israelis”, he added, Recalling that Ramala welcomes the proposal to hold an international peace conference in Moscow and the Moscow trilateral meeting with the participation of tel Aviv.
Multifunctional cultural and sports complex in Bethlehem
Multifunctional cultural and sports complex was built in accordance with the instructions of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin for the subsequent transfer as a gift to the people of the Palestinian authority.
The IFC consists of three buildings: a five-story musical-the leisure center with classes for music lessons, an Assembly hall and recording Studio, four sports halls for judo and Greco-Roman wrestling, as well as a six-storey business centre with offices, a concert hall, a restaurant, retail space and underground Parking.
The project was implemented by the management of the Affairs of the Kremlin at the expense of extrabudgetary funds. About 50 million dollars for these purposes was allocated to non-profit organization “Charitable Fund named after Ziya Bagaeva”. Construction was completed in may 2016, in July, the IFC was transferred to the Palestinian authority.
The complex is located on the street named after Putin. It is specially renamed in 2012 to the Russian leader’s visit. Near the IFC is open at the same time the Russian centre of science and culture and the current 2014 school name Russian-Palestinian friendship, where he teaches Russian language.
