Company Bontrager has updated its line of branded kitchenware, releasing a new modification for the four core models. Their main difference – a new filler for cushioning. Now in his innovative copolymer is used as the material from which is formed a hollow honeycomb structure – WaveCel.

WaveCel is the result of fifteen years research into how the impact of a human head in the helmet on different obstacles. The main problem is that in real life almost never see those “perfect” hits that were originally modeled in the laboratory. And protection, designed to withstand direct blows, succumb even to the weak loads from sliding vector application. But there are also factors such as unexpected angles on the obstacles or the need to protect the head if the man fell and rolled on the asphalt.

Polymer plates WaveCel glued together into a kind of honeycomb with triangular cells. The walls of each cell are mobile, she can move relative to neighbors, and one row of cells flexibly attached to the other. But the material itself is very durable – if any physical contact impact energy is extinguished due to the reversible deformation of the entire structure of the honeycomb, and the plate does not crack.

With this approach, WaveCel can withstand impact from any direction, including long slide over a rough surface. The material is very light — all protection for the helmet weighs only 53 grams, and breathable that provides a natural ventilation of the head. WaveCel mounted under the hard exterior protecting a helmet and 48 times reduces the risk of concussion in accidents, in comparison with the old models of the most Bontrager.
