The Metropolitan of Pereiaslav and Belotserkovsky Epiphanius won the second round of a secret ballot for the position of Primate of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine after his candidacy was removed, the Metropolitan Lutsky and the Volynsk Mikhail.

As noted, during the Council of UOC-Kyivan Patriarchate on December 13, the Primate of the UOC KP Filaret hoped unanimously to approve the Epiphany of a single candidate. But even with the open vote of 12 of the 40 members of the Council supported the Metropolitan Lutsky Michael.
Another candidate for the Prelate was the representative of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Simeon of Vinnytsia.
