Members of the Russian band Pussy Riot seek asylum in Sweden
Uncategorized January 24, 2018Two members of Russian protest art group Pussy Riot Lusine Janyan and her husband Alex Kantakoski ask for political asylum in Sweden. About it reports Deutsche Welle.
Janan, and Kantakoski noted that for ten months in the country with his young son and now live in a hostel for asylum seekers.
“Here we don’t have to fear. But what awaits us in Russia is much worse,” said Kantakoski.
The group Pussy Riot in the past have attracted the attention of the public thanks to his extraordinary art and criticism of the President of the aggressor country of Russia Vladimir Putin.
The group became known in 2012, when its members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina and Yekaterina samutsevich performed a song “the virgin, Putin banish” in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow, after which he was arrested and sentenced to two years in prison, the last of them – conditionally.
Officially, the court found them guilty of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred. Human rights organizations repeatedly called the decision politically motivated. Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina were pardoned by decree of the President of Russia, after which they were released.
Janan, and Kantakoski became known after the protest they organized an art event in Sochi, Russia in 2014, when the city hosted the winter Olympic games.
According to activists, after they have repeatedly been victims of threats, insults and physical violence.
Prior to this she Janan lost his job at the Krasnodar state University of culture and arts.
20 December 2017 in Moscow at the building of the Federal security service detained a member of female punk band Pussy Riot Maria Alekhina, who unfurled a banner with the inscription “happy birthday, butchers”.
