Odessa Anatoly Mazur, who smashed cars under the Solomyansky court released under house arrest. This decision was made by the judge of Solomensky court Vadim Senin, correspondent LIGA.net.
Prosecutors asked for Mazur’s arrest for two months. The Prosecutor Yury Kucher explained the position of the prosecution that Mazur, according to him, may abscond or commit another offense, may influence witnesses, destroy evidence.
In turn, the lawyer of Dmytro Boyko reminded that Mazur himself had been in law enforcement, voluntarily reported what he did and gave the axe which damaged the cars of employees of the court. Boyko said that his client did not intend to hide and is willing to cooperate with the investigation. Mazur said he was willing to repair the damage.
He also said that it was a political action, to “draw attention to the chaos that is happening in Odessa”. Mazur said that he was outraged by the decision of Solomensky court to let the mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov.
The last straw, he said, was that after the meeting on Trukhanov, in the courthouse, the people of Odessa city mayor beat the representative of the Odessa Automaidan Vitaly Ustimenko. “All the legal mechanisms in Odessa we have already exhausted”, he said.
Protection suggested as an alternative to house arrest in Kiev in a rented apartment or surety. To take Mazur on bail volunteered deputies Igor Lutsenko, Yegor Sobolev, and the assistant Deputy Andrei Levus Dmytro Humeniuk.
16 February 2018, a man with an axe in the yard of the Solomensky district court of Kiev has damaged 13 cars. People were not injured. The perpetrators of the pogrom the man was detained, it turned out to Odessa for 35 years.
