Lithuania will give the United States a man who was able to deceive Google and Facebook for $100 million
If Evaldas, Ramasauskas be convicted, will receive a long prison term
Lithuanian businessman suspected of fraud amounting to more than $100 million in respect of companies Google and Facebook in the case of cybercrime, will be extradited to the United States. This decision was made by the court of appeal in Vilnius, reports European Pravda , citing The Associated Press.
According to the court, businessman Evaldas of Ramasauskas shall transmit to the US authorities where he will be tried for wire fraud, money laundering and theft of personal data.
Ramasauskas accused that he, speaking on behalf of the company-manufacturer of computer equipment located in one of the countries of Asia, fraudulently obtained from Google and Facebook more than $100 million.
For his fraud, the businessman has registered in Latvia the firm with the same name as an Asian computer manufacturer that has supplied its products in the United States.
After that, he sent American corporations letters about the need to transfer to a dummy account means that the contract belonged to the Asian supplier.
Ramasauskas, denies the allegations. If he’s convicted, will get a long prison term. The court’s decision is final. Date of extradition will be announced later this month.
