The Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Konstantin Kosachev in an interview with argumenti.ru commented on Russia’s relations with African countries.

“The current authority of Russia, not least because of its middle East policy in recent years, as well as the historical background, which is our country in the eyes of Africans, help to see in us what they don’t see the others: defender of their economic and political sovereignty. And it is for them in many respects more important than the statistics of trade or economic aid, which also is sometimes linked to foreign interests,” said the Senator.
He also added that the beginning of good relations is necessary, but for successful cooperation countries need to continue to work together.
On 23 and 24 September in Sochi hosted the economic forum Russia — Africa, which countries have expressed high interest in deepening and intensification of bilateral cooperation.
