Donald trump believes that Russia’s accession to the G7 “would be appropriate”. Such a statement he made during a meeting with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis.

“We talked about Russia, because I was on the set of G7 summits, — said the American President. — I think it would be more appropriate to have there Russia”.

He added that he would support the proposal to return Moscow to the organization, if someone with such made. Thus, the exclusion of Russia from the G8 was the fault of Barack Obama, said trump. According to him, the Russian leader Vladimir Putin “outsmarted” his American counterpart.

“I believe that President Obama, because Putin is outwitted him, I thought that the presence of Russia (the G8. — RT) is a bad idea, said trump. — It is not supposed to work”.

This statement was made in light of the impending G7 summit in France — it will be held in the French Biarritz in a few days. In “seven” are USA, Germany, France, UK, Italy, Japan and Canada. Earlier the organization was called the G8 then it consisted of Russia, but after the reunification with Crimea in 2014 that the remaining members of the organization are not recognized, Moscow was excluded.

The return of Russia raised before, including trump. So, at the G7 summit in June 2018, he said that Russia “needs to be at this meeting”.

“Whether you like it or not — and it may be politically incorrect to say, but we need to rule the world. G7 that I had before the G8, kicked out of Russia — it should return to Russia, because we need Russia to the negotiating table”, — he said.

“We at any time we welcome our partners”

Russia has repeatedly said that it is not Moscow left the organization and she has always advocated participation on all platforms where it makes sense. In particular, the question of Russian participation in the G7 was raised before the talks Putin and President of France Emmanuel Makron, which took place on August 19. The journalist asked, would not want the Russian leader to return to G8.

“With regard to the possible format within the eight States that we never refuse nothing. Was Russia’s turn to hold the “eight” at the time, and our partners didn’t come. Please us any time we welcome our partners in the framework of “seven”, — said Putin.

The Russian President noted that there are other organizations that play an important role in global processes.

“For example, “twenty.” And there are the biggest economic players are represented, like China, India, and many others. 20 countries, you know them well. Almost 90% of the world economy. In this regard, of course, are more full-size courts, they today is obviously an objective thing — play a significant, notable role, and we work actively”, — said Putin.

Russia is satisfied with the format of the G20, and in that case, if we receive an offer to join the G7, Moscow will consider it, said the first Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Vladimir Jabbarov.

“Russia itself will not ask. If we turn, the Russian side will consider the feasibility of their participation in the G8. Meantime, we are quite satisfied with the G20 format in which to address very serious issues. Participation in the G8 is for us not an end in itself, Russia has now other priorities,” he told RT.

According to the Senator, the heads of the leading world powers understand the role of Russia in solving international conflicts and its role in global processes, and because in recent years there is a reassessment of relations with Moscow.

“We are two nuclear powers, we — the two permanent members of the Security Council (of the United Nations. — RT). We should be able to negotiate. Even if we have differences on some issues, we need to work together,” said macron.

However, trump was able to make statements about the return of Russia in the G8 and in the election campaign, said political analyst Alexander Asaph. In conversation with RT, the expert noted that Russia has not lost anything after deletion of accounts, contacts with the countries of the “sevens” are saved, but the G7 after it became “defective”.

“Trump, which is included in the campaign in the way of the peacemaker, will make such statements. However, it is not necessarily what they will end with some action. Russia one way or another cooperates with all who are ready for this. Including with members of the G7. That is, for our country there is no damage. But for the “seven” is because it is now defective and can not claim the completeness of major world actors” — said the analyst.
