Despite the fact that annually tens of millions of people visit the largest U.S. Smithsonian Museum of American art (Washington), for many it remains unavailable. That is why the leadership of the Museum in conjunction with the Intel decided to speed up the digitization of its collection, numbering 157 million items.

The first draft of this program gives visitors the opportunity to take a virtual tour of the place of the annual contemporary art festival Burning Man, which takes place in the desert of black Rock, Nevada.

In Renwick gallery of the Smithsonian Museum visitors, wearing the gear VR headset, will be able to visit a virtual desert of black Rock. Afterwards, he returned to the real world, they will be able to see everything from sculptures and paintings to various decorations and costumes used in a real Burning Man festival. The exhibition will run until January 21, 2019.
