In Venice today, January 3, thieves stole fine jewelry from the collection of the treasures of Indian Maharajas, who were exhibited in the Doge’s Palace. It is reported Ukrainian news citing The Telegraph.

Jewelry, including bracelets and necklaces, was unceremoniously stolen on the last day of the exhibition, which opened in September. The decoration was taken straight from showcase one, or perhaps two men that were seen on the security cameras, but managed to escape.

The declared value of the stolen items on customs forms, there were only around 30 000 euros, but in fact they’re probably worth millions, according to sources in the police the Italian media.

The exhibition, entitled “treasures of the Mughal and Maharaja” showed almost 300 items spanning five centuries of Indian craftsmanship.

The collection belongs to a member of the ruling family al-Thani of Qatar, and when it is not displayed at exhibitions around the world, is located under the castle in London.
