KIEV. May 16. UNN. The man who in Izmail Odessa region threw a grenade at police officers, found guilty and sentenced to 13 years imprisonment. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor of the Odessa region, reports UNN.

“Izmail local Prosecutor’s office supported the public prosecution in criminal proceedings, on the consideration that a man sentenced to 13 years imprisonment. Thus, 33-year-old citizen found guilty of illegal acquisition and carrying of firearms and ammunition and attempted murder of a law enforcement authority in connection with the performance of their official duties”, – stated in the message.

During the trial, the man pleaded not guilty.

“In December, 2015 resident of Ishmael found a gun, ammunition and a fragmentation grenade RGD-5, which was carried without lawful authority. On the same day residents in the city of Izmail spotted him with the weapon in a condition of alcoholic intoxication. At the scene arrived employees of the police, but the attacker started to run away from them and fired several shots from a pistol at law enforcement officers. Then a resident of Ishmael threw a grenade at them, resulting in two police officers suffered minor injuries. It should be noted that the said citizen had previously been convicted for theft”, – told in Prosecutor’s office.

Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings under article 348 and part 1 of article 263 UK of Ukraine was carried out by the investigators of the Izmail Department of police.
