In Odessa region the community of the village Znamenka of Ivanovo region took the decision to move from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in Odessa diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

It is noted that on 24 February, Archpriest Nicholas stefaniuk accepted into the clergy of PCU together with the religious community of the Holy Nativity of the Theotokos Church Znamenka.

“Any information from the Moscow Patriarchate on the prohibition of the priest is invalid due to the fact that he is not a cleric,” said the diocese.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on January 20 the congregation of St. Demetrius Puzhaikove the village of Balta district of Odessa region was the first to announce the transition of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. 25 Jan similar decision was taken by the community of the village Sarata, 9 Feb – the community of the Holy Dormition Church of the village Sun, 16 Feb – the community of Holy Trinity Church of Novoielyzavetivka Shiryaevo district.
