In Odessa caught members of a gang that terrorized residents

KIEV. 15 Feb. UNN. In Odessa blocked the activity of an organized group of people from the North Caucasus, which was engaged in robberies and extortion of money and valuables from citizens. It is reported by UNN with reference to the security Service of Ukraine.
“Employees of SB of Ukraine together with the police under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor’s office blocked in Odessa, the activities of organized ethnic group which was engaged in robberies and extortion of money and valuables from citizens”, – stated in the message.
Operatives of the intelligence service established that the group consisted of natives of the North Caucasus region, mainly with the criminal past. According to the SBU, gang activity was controlled by one of the “thieves in law”, who is now hiding from the Ukrainian justice abroad. It is established that the members of the group involved in the Commission of a number of assaults with firearms, robberies, and extortion of money. Their victims, the attackers chose among the wealthy citizens and, threatening with physical violence, forced to pay “tribute”.
In the framework of the open criminal proceedings under part 4 of article 187 of the Criminal code of Ukraine, law enforcement detained three active participants of the group. During the eight concurrent authorized searches in rooms and hiding places of defendants in the case, seized firearms, ammunition, articles of precious metals and other tangible assets.
Now the issue of declaring the detainee about suspicion in Commission of crime and the election of a preventive measure.
Urgent investigative actions to prosecute other members of the group.
We will remind, in Odessa, the attackers, using physical violence and psychological pressure, “knocked out” non-existent debt from local residents.
