The parishioners of the Serbian Orthodox Church to the epidemic of coronavirus in Montenegro held a mass rally in protest against the oppression of SPC in the country: the country’s Parliament on the night of 27 December 2019 adopted the law “On freedom of conscience and religion and the legal status of religious communities”. In support of the law voted by 45 members of the 45 present, the document was seen after the police detained all the opposition. On 28 December, the law was signed by President of Montenegro Milo Djukanovic.

The head of state accuses the Serbian Orthodox Church in an attempt to maintain a religious monopoly in the country. He said that he would seek autocephaly of the Montenegrin Church to follow Ukraine’s example. In the framework of the creation of the new Church, the Cabinet of Montenegro held a Parliament of a law on religious freedom, providing for the confiscation of Church property of SPTS. We are talking about more than 650 relics, including the well-known in the Orthodox world, the monastery of Ostrog.
