Wednesday, February 27, the mayor of Kharkiv Gennady Kernes and the Governor of the EBRD for Eastern Europe and Caucasus Matteo Patrone has signed a guarantee Agreement on the project of updating of trolleybus Park of the city. About it reports a press-service of the city Council.
Kernes thanked EBRD representatives for their hard work and support projects aimed at the modernization of the infrastructure of the city, as well as projects for the introduction of new technologies in the field of energy efficiency.
“The EBRD’s willingness to systematically invest in projects vital city for us high evaluation of home and an opportunity not to stop the development of the city. Kharkov has set the aim to modernize in all spheres of life, and the support of an authoritative partner is very important for our city to sustainable economic development and effective governance. I am sure that your visit to Kharkov will serve to further strengthen our cooperation”, – said the mayor.
According to him, the project for updating of trolleybus Park will improve the comfort and safety of transportation to ensure the accessibility of urban transport for people with reduced mobility, and to reduce operating costs of enterprises and to improve the ecological situation in Kharkov.

In turn, Matteo Patrone said that the European Bank for reconstruction and development satisfied with the cooperation with Kharkiv and ready to develop it.
“We are Kharkov – the most important city in terms of cooperation in the sphere of implementation of municipal projects. We are very pleased with our partnership and want to explore other areas for enhanced cooperation. I am impressed by the successes in your city, and we are ready to continue cooperation with the city government to contribute to the development of Kharkiv”, – said Cartridge.
In April 2017 the Kharkiv city Council has given its consent to the enterprise “Trolleybus depot № 2” on the signing of the agreement with EBRD in the framework of the investment project “Updating of trolleybus Park of Kharkiv”. In September 2018 EBRD signed a loan agreement for renovation of the rolling stock of the enterprise. The financing package includes a loan from EBRD in the amount of 8 million euros and a loan from the clean technology Fund in the amount of 2 million euros. The winner of the tender announced PJSC “Automobile company “Bogdan motors”. Under the supply agreement, total contract value amounted to 11.5 million Euro (including 1.5 million euros – means of the city budget).
Kharkov is already cooperating with the EBRD on a number of infrastructure projects, in particular, the construction of two metro stations “Derzhavin” and “Odessa” and the purchase of transport, including new cars for the metro. Commissioning of new stations will increase the length of the tube is 3.5 km, and passenger traffic by 25 thousand people a year.
