In Germany want more the German language in the EU after BrexitUncategorized August 11, 2017
Three deputies of the German Bundestag asked the German Chancellor Angela Merkel to provide broader use of the German language institutions of the European Union after the withdrawal of the UK. About it writes portal EURACTIV.com.
Earlier, the parliamentarians also met with the EU Commissioner and the German politician günther Oettinger, to lobby this issue at the level of the European Commission.
“It will be good if after Brexit two other official EU language – French and German – again longer in use,” – said Vice-President of the Bundestag Deputy from the Bavarian party, the CSU Johannes Singhammer.
He noted that the English language will play a dominant role in the EU after Brexit. “But I think now it makes sense to use more French and German,” added Zinghammer.
In may 2017 the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, speaking in Florence with a speech on the topic of the situation in the European Union, chose to speak in French, noting that “English loses its value” in Europe.
