Center for transport strategies and “Mariupol investment group” published the results of his researchconducted in the framework of the second phase of the project LAB (Agro Logistics Benchmark). The subject of his study is the organization of grain logistics in Ukraine, the USA, France and Germany and an assessment of relevant costs.

At present, quantitative data for 2010 and 2017. Their analysis shows that logistics has become cheaper (in dollar terms). So shipping 1 ton of grain at a conventional 500-kilometer route in 2010 in Ukraine was worth $ 49, France and Germany, $ 30 in the US — $ 42. In 2017, these figures were respectively 35, 24, 26 and $ 37.

The Ukrainian logistics fell stronger this reduced its price gap.

In 2010 the price of European logistics, accounted for 60% of Ukrainian, and in 2017 — is already 82%. American logistics during this time became more expensive than Ukrainian (2010 — 83%, 2017 — 112%).

The main reason that logistics in Germany and France remains cheaper, is that in these countries, 50% of the volume of traffic you have on the cheap river transport (in Ukraine its share of 5% in the U.S. — 15%). American logistics has risen in relative terms due to the large share of road transport (60%, against 35% in Ukraine and Germany and 45% in France). In Ukraine, the grain is transported mainly by rail — 60% of the total (25% in USA, 15% Germany, 5% in France).

Earlier it was reported that, according to the President of Ukrainian grain Association Mykola Gorbachov, the proposed automatic indexation of tariffs of Railways for freight transport the producer price index of industrial production would undermine the entire pricing system in the grain market.
