Georgian President: Russia has failed to achieve its objective, the war could not change the course of the country
Salome Zurabishvili
KIEV. 8 Aug. UNN. The President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili declared that Russia had not achieved its goal, since the war has not led to a change of course for Georgia to become a decent, strong, stable, democratic, independent state. About it reports UNN , citing Georgia online.
“Occupation is a big pain for all the citizens of Georgia. We have the same experience this tragedy on both sides of the occupation line. We all remember that unity we, the Ossetians and Abkhazians, goes back thousands of years. Remember that you are a part of a great culture and a shared civilization of the Caucasian, and those who fight against this culture, this civilization, are fighting not only our past, but also trying to take away our common future. But in vain! Neither the war nor the occupation of 20% of our territories, nor the violation of the rights and identity of our citizens did not affect the sovereignty and independence of Georgia. Russia failed to achieve its objective, the war could not change the course of Georgia, didn’t hit its goal of becoming a decent, strong, stable, democratic, independent state. The movement towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration continues”, — is told in the statement of Salome Zurabishvili.
The President of Georgia said that Russia should implement the agreement on cease-fire of 2008 and understand what is acquired by war and occupied by force the territory, depressed by fear, the population will not bring the region nor stability nor prosperity.
We will remind, in connection with the 12th anniversary of the Russian-Georgian war over all the buildings of the state offices at half-mast state flags of Georgia.
