Gazprom called the incorrect interpretation of his statement that the company will not challenge the final decision of the Stockholm arbitration on the dispute with Naftogaz of Ukraine.

Gazprom recalled that the earlier-filed application in the district court of Appeal of Svea (Sweden), and now intends to clarify its parameters.

This was announced by Deputy Chairman of Gazprom Alexander Medvedev said in comments to Interfax.

“We are withdrawing our appeal on the interlocutory decision. Moreover, the output of the final decision means that in the framework of the initial appeal will be made the necessary clarifications,” – said Medvedev.

“We submit the appeal in respect of that part of the solution, which we are not satisfied or not satisfied in full”, – he said.

That is, the appeal does not concern the obligations of Naftogaz to pay Gazprom’s debt of $2 billion since it was adopted in favor of the Russian monopoly.

“So far, they awarded the amount not paid… We expect the Ukrainian side speedy execution of decisions. Moreover, every day $600 thousand of interest and penalties accrued to the Ukrainian side,” – said Medvedev.

We will remind, Naftogaz pays Gazprom from 1 to 3 million dollars in fines daily.
