In Kharkov in just a week the number of cases of measles has grown by 35.1%. This was reported to UKRINFORM by Director of the Kharkiv regional laboratory center of the Ministry of health Love Makhota.

According to her, last week it was 77 new cases of measles.

“For a week the incidence of measles in the region increased by 35.1%. Was 77 cases of measles, 26 of them among children. The epidemic situation is characterized as dysfunctional, the incidence is high,” said mahkota.

The number of patients with measles has been increasing for the last three weeks. Doctors stress that most cases among the non – working segments of the population, 23.6% of working – 17.2 per cent of students and 16.7%, preschoolers and 16.1%, students and 8.4% of kindergarten students is 6.8%.

Makhota also noted that the proportion of unvaccinated among patients is 65.5% (114 people).

“Analysis of the incidence of vaccinated (60) showed that 21 patients (35%) has only one vaccination (mandatory, according to the immunization schedule, 2 vaccinati: 12 months and 6 years – ed.). Laboratory diagnosis of measles confirmed in 22.4% of patients. 140 hospitalized patients. Fatal cases were not registered,” – said Makhota.

Recall that in some areas of the complications from measles become fatal. For example, in Lviv from complications of measles a woman died, and in the Vinnytsia region died of measles eight-month-old child.
