Kiev authorities collect the signatures of famous athletes on a petition demanding the release of Ukrainian political prisoner in Russia Oleg Sentsov.

Of the signatures were collected during the tournament of Champions of UEFA, which took place in the framework of the Champions League final on the Central street of Kiev – Khreschatyk.

The letter was signed by ex-player national team of Ukraine on football Evgeny Levchenko, Ambassador for the UEFA Champions League Iya andrushchak, head coach of Ukrainian football Andriy Shevchenko, the English football freestyler Billy Wingrove player of the national team of Jamaica football Jeremy Lynch, ex-player of France national team and clubs Olympique Marseille, AC Milan, Chelsea’s Marcel Desailly, English football player Stan Collymore over, Portuguese footballer josé Bosingwa, the legendary Ukrainian boxer Vladimir Klitschko and other athletes.

We will remind, Oleg Sentsov together with Aleksandr Kolchenko was detained by representatives of the Russian special services in Crimea in may 2014 on charges of organizing attacks on the Peninsula.

In August 2015 the North Caucasus district military court in Rostov-on-don has sentenced Oleg Sentsov to 20 years in a strict regime colony. Kolchenko received 10 years in prison. Both pleaded not guilty.

May 14, 2018 Sentsov announced an indefinite hunger strike, demanding from the Russian authorities for the release of all Ukrainian political prisoners.
