Ethiopia has banned foreigners to adopt childrenUncategorized January 11, 2018
Ethiopia imposed a ban on adoptions of children by foreigners because of fears that they are being treated improperly. It is reported by the BBC.
The discussion about adoption in Ethiopia was caused by the case when in 2013, the American couple found guilty in murder of girls from this country.
According to human rights watch, traffickers also prey on the problem of adoption in this country and benefit from this a large profit.
The deputies of the Ethiopian Parliament say that orphans should protect and support at the local level. However, they recognize that the country is not enough services that would be doing it.
The Agency cites the US state Department, according to which every fifth adopted by a U.S. citizen child is a foreigner originally from Ethiopia. It is also known that the Americans have adopted more than 15,000 children from Ethiopia for 1999-2016 years.
According to the newspaper, families from Spain, France and Italy adopt a few hundred Ethiopian children a year.
