At the age of 86 years died one of the inventors of the handheld electronic calculator Jerry Merriman. About it reports AP.
As noted, the death was caused by complications of heart and kidney failure.

Merriman studied at the University of Texas, but never finished it. He began his career in Texas Instruments (TI) in 1963 at the age of 30 years.
In the first portable digital calculator that Jerry Merriman invented in December of 1966, used bipolar transistors and integrated circuits.
The first calculator was performing the mathematical operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The output was on paper tape.
