Woman killed baby in February 2019.
REUTERSВ Odessa region sentenced the woman who killed her newborn child.

As reported the UNIAN in head Department of the National police in the Odessa region, on the eve of the court sentenced to three years of imprisonment with a probation period of two years, 24-year-old resident of Balta district.

As noted, the crime was committed in February in the village of Lipetsk Podolsk district of the Odessa region.

“Giving birth to a healthy baby, the woman committed the actions which resulted in the girl suffocated. In particular, trying to conceal the crime, the mother buried the baby alive in the garden, behind any outbuildings,” – said in the Chapter.

Police exposed the lawbreaker. Her actions were qualified under part 1 of article 117 (premeditated murder mother of the newborn child) of the Criminal code of Ukraine. For the period of a pretrial investigation the woman was a preventive measure in the form of house arrest.

The court has sent an indictment and a reconciliation agreement between the victim (the father of the child) and the suspect. The court, convinced that the parties voluntarily entered into an agreement, approved it and appointed the above sentence. In addition, a woman should regularly report to the probation authorities and not to leave place of residence without permission.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in late February, doctors hospitals Podolsk district of the Odessa region informed the police about the woman suspected of “criminal abortion”. After she was examined by doctors, she left the medical facility.

The police have established the identity of the citizen – a resident of Balta district, which long time was visiting relatives in the Podolsk district.

Communicating with militiamen, the woman first claimed that she had a miscarriage, and the fetus she was buried in the garden. However, after the autopsy, the forensic experts found that the girl was born full-term, and the preliminary cause of her death was strangulation, caused by the overlap of the respiratory tract.

The woman then confessed to the crime, said she already has a son, who is little more than a year, and this child was unwanted. The living baby she was wrapped in a plastic bag and buried it.
