KIEV. 10 Dec. UNN. Over 80 human rights defenders expressed desire to defend in court the Ukrainian sailors detained by Russia in the Kerch Strait along with the military courts. This was stated by Russian and Ukrainian lawyer Nikolai Polozov on his page in Facebook, reports UNN.
“When I began to form a team of lawyers who will have to defend 24 Ukrainian sailors, I had no idea that responds to a number of colleagues … And I am grateful every lawyer with more than 80, who wished to assume the defense in such a complex case (given the number of defendants, limiting the politicization of the case and the conviction of some officials in his exclusive right) “, – the lawyer wrote.
According to him, the list of counsel were presented to the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on human rights, Lyudmila Denisova, and then began the matching process. In the end, was presented to the approved list of advocates included in the team.
“The team consists partly of lawyers of Moscow and Moscow region, partly from advocates of the Crimea and Sevastopol,” – said Polozov.
He noted that more information about the defense team of Ukrainian sailors will tell on a press-conferences, date, time and venue of which will be announced by Wednesday.
“While I can say that we have identified those lawyers who will interact with media and to Express the position of the defense team in the case of Ayder Azamatov, Sergey adamsin, Emil Kurbedinov, Ilya Novikov, Sergey Panchenko, Nikolay Polozov, Eden Semelai”, – he said.
According to Polozova, a priority of advocates will be meeting everyone with his client.
As reported UNN, every Ukrainian sailor arrested in Russia by the Kerch Strait along with the military courts, already has its own lawyer.
