Four opponents of Alyaksandr Lukashenka in the elections of the President of Belarus decided to challenge the election results. “The complaint is a total falsification of counting of votes and violations of the electoral legislation,” – said to “Interfax” presidential candidate Andrey Dmitriev. First results of the elections were disputed by the opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovski, filed a complaint to the CEC on August 10. According to official data, incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko voted 80,23% of voters, Svetlana Tikhanovski gained 9.9 percent. The column “against all” was chosen by 6,02% of the voters. The other candidates, according to the CEC received less than two percent of the votes: Anna Konopacka to 1.68%, Andrey Dmitriev – 1,04 %, Sergey Caraceni of 1.13 %.

Filing a complaint Tikhanovski demanded that the CEC recognized the election results null and void, and the counting of votes was conducted once or on separate sites held a new vote. The opposition organized an alternative count of votes according to which more than 80% of votes were cast for Tikhanovski.
